The Food Police Guide to the best meals in Mexico / La Guerrerense, “The best seafood tostada in the world" comes from a small cart in Ensenada.

In 2013, the World Street Food Congress in Singapore witnessed the rise of a humble seafood tostada from a small cart in Ensenada.

This heavy hors d'oeuvre brainchild of Doña Sabina Bandera, now the world renowned Singapore Tostada, claimed first place in sales and third overall. Anthony Bourdain even declared it the "best seafood tostada in the world."  The chef's admiration transformed Doña Sabina into a culinary icon, with her story featured in Season 8 of "No Reservations."

History of  "La Guerrerense"

Sabina’s rich history starts in the Mexican state of Guerrero, where she was born and raised and lives on in Ensenada, where she celebrated her honeymoon in 1976 and just never left.

What started as a family business became an international sensation, thanks to Bourdain's praise.

Why La Guerrerense Stands Out

Ensenada is famous for its numerous seafood carts, but none match the international acclaim of "La Guerre." Visitors flock not only for the fresh oysters, sea urchin and snail tostadas, and octopus cocktails but to visit Doña Sabina; her warm and unpretentious cuisine transcends any distance.

Visit La Guerrerense
