"La Doña" was not only a film icon, but also a figure whose presence left a mark on some of Mexico City’s most emblematic spots. From luxury restaurants to humble torta stands, her footsteps created a trail of glamour, anecdotes, and unmatched style.

They say this is where she met Agustín Lara, who had dedicated “María Bonita” to her even before they met. The bar was located inside the Hotel Reforma, designed by Mario Pani at the age of 24, with murals by Diego Rivera adorning the walls.

Today, it hosts concerts and cultural events.

Country Club of Mexico City

In 1941, “El Baile de Blanco y Negro en el Country Club” premiered—the first film of what would become María Félix’s long and legendary career.

It was filmed at the Country Club in Coyoacán, which still stands today near the Churubusco Studios.

Tortas La Samaritana

Much has been written about how La Doña and one of her husbands, banker Alexander Berger, would order up to 50 tortas for card games held at their mansion on Hegel Street.

Restaurante Prendes

Mexico’s first great restaurant. Here, La Doña could be seen enjoying escamoles and endless sobremesas when Prendes was located on 16 de Septiembre in downtown Mexico City.

Today, you can visit it at the Palacio de Hierro in Polanco.
